I have an out of state title and a non-transferable CA registration on the Ralliart. I’m going to gear up to sell it since it’s been gaining +20 miles/month for the last 6 months and it’s just not enough. Which reminds me, I probably got an other parking ticket on it yesterday - woops. Any advice on converting to a CA title? Anyone know if I can do this at AAA instead of DreadedMV?

You should have gotten a California title when it was registered in California. I know when I registered my out of state car from NJ, they gave me a new title and took the old one. I was able to do this at AAA. I specifically got a membership just for this purpose.

When I transferred to CA, there was still a lien on the car (MA title held by lender). When the car was paid off, they sent me the MA title.

Ahh yeah you probably have to go to the DMV to change that then. I would still ask AAA if they can do it since getting a DMV appointment is a nightmare. You might have to re-register the car though would be my concern.

I’m assuming they can convert the registration but we’ll see.

Assuming and California ends badly lol. I miss being able to just walk into the DMV back in NJ and not waiting forever, no appointment or anything. The appointment thing in CA is nice but there are still way too many damn people for the amount of offices.

Same here. The appointments in CA are just a bandaid for a sucky experience.
